After becoming part of the black muslim religious group Malcolm had become assistant minister of Detroit Mosque. In1954 he had lead Mosque to Harlem. He had become the "face" of black muslims. In the beginning of it all he was all about being violent. He had urged blacks to give up the Christian religion. Malcom X wanted people to reject intergration.
Malcolm X blamed white people for black criminals and the way they are. He believed that the political system was messed and and he didn't want the black people to vote for anything. In 1957 Malcolm had met a younge student nurse named Betty Shabazz. AKA Betty X. He married her in 1958 and had six daughters. Eventually rumors went around saying that Malcolm wanted to over throw Elijah.
After JFK's assination was "The chicken's coming home." Not liking that Elijah had said suspended Malcolm and wasn't allowed to speak for the movement for a total of 90 days. On March 8th 1964 Malcolm stated he was leaving the Nation of Islam. He had started Muslism Mosque Inc. and the Organization of Afo-American Unity. He still believed in the Islamic religion. Over the next few months he changed his thoughts one white men. He had no longer believed that were evil. He had changed his name to El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. He wanted to help and take all the black peoples complaints that they had and planned on taking it the United Nations. He began having meetings in Harlem in order to get more black power in certin schools, police, and other political rights.
On Sunday February 21, 1965 Malcolm Little, aka Malcolm X, aka El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz was assassinated before he started to start one of his meetings in Harlem. After his death his trying of getting more black power in the political system was very much grown. There are many spots named after him. Such as Malcolm X Community College (in Chicago), Malcolm X Liberation University (in Durham), and Malcolm X Society.
